Essay

Defined are clinical and neurological features of cardiac dysfunction in the acute period of ischemic stroke, given are the characteristic changes of lipid profile, the concentration of glial fibrillar acidic protein in these patients, studied are the dynamics of changes in hemostasis and fibrinolysis system activity-proteolysis of patients with ischemic stroke and cardiac dysfunction, the status of cerebral hemodynamics and function of endothelium in cardiac dysfunction in patients with ischemic stroke. It is found that pathogenetic mechanisms of changes in both cardiovascular system and cerebrovascular system are quite similar and include increased arterial stiffness, metabolic changes, worsening of blood flow features and formation of hypoxic changes in brain and heart tissues. The role of lipid profile disorders in development of ischemic stroke was not statistically proved, while in patients with cardiac dysfunction higher levels of total cholesterol, tryglycerides and atherogenic index were observed if compare with ischemic stroke patients without cardiac dysfunction. It is proved that additional quercetin significantly reduces oxidative stress changes, improves features of endothelium of major arterial branches and decreases arterial wall stiffness. However, while influencing metabolic processes and stimulating glial regeneration, quercetin in acute period of ischemic stroke doesn't reliably influence lipid metabolism, recommendations for practical implementation of the results of the dissertation thesis are given.
