Ilchenko O. Metaphoric word combinations in the language of Ukrainian press of XXI century

The object is the language of the press of the beginning of the XXI century; the aim is to make a complex linguistic analysis of metaphoric word combination of political and economical kind of discourse, which are implemented in the language of the press of the XXI century; methods that are used: linguistic analysis, analysis and synthesis, comparative, elements of statistical analysis, contextual and semantic analysis, discursive analysis; novelty - it is the first time in Ukrainian linguistic when the metaphoric word combinations of the modern Ukrainian press are under analysis: the functions, semantical processes of the metaphoric word combinations are specified; the basic theoretical aspects and scientific tools are stated according to modern scientific paradigm: the stylistic modification of the press, nature and effects of this phenomenon are specified; the aspects of studying metaphors and the mechanism of its formation are analyzed; the notion "metaphoric word combination" is marked off the closely-related ones; the main characteristics of political and economic discourse in the modern language of the press are determined; the chosen linguistic material is analyzed from the point of view of traditional structural - semantic analysis and considering cognitive and pragmatic approaches, namely: topical diversity of political and economic discourses of the press is represented; structural and component types and the ones of metaphoric hyphenation of metaphoric word combinations are described; results - practical material, basic states and corollaries of the thesis can be used in lexicographical practice and in educational process in teaching stylistics, lexicology on a philological faculty and department of journalism; field - philological
