Essay

On the grounds of analysis of scientific literature, archive documents, as well as statutory and legal acts, the dissertation studies issues on the place of Bukovina in the legal system of Romania (1918-1940). Prerequisites and circumstances are being analyzed under which Bukovina was annexed by Romania in 1918. Place and role of superior and local authorities which were active in Romania and Bukovina in inter-war period have been elucidated; their competence, structure and working order have been explained. Contents, structure and peculiarities of self-government system in Bukovina have been determined. Significant attention has been paid to issues of activity of punitive authorities in Bukovina (court, public prosecutor’s office, police, siguranza and gendarmerie).
