Essay

The thesis is dedicated to the analysis of constitutional status of judges in Ukraine and Eastern European countries. Author defines main approaches to the modern understanding of such legal categories as court, judge, judiciary power, legal construction "judge is a holder of judiciary power", status, constitutional status of judges, which form theoretical and methodological basis of the thesis. In certain cases we provide author's definitions of these notions. Taking into account achievements of constitutional and legal science we argue the expediency of combining legal and contiguous components in the judge's status, structural elements of legal position of judiciary power holders, we define the structure of the model multilevel regulation of this institution. The peculiarities which discern legal status of judges from other public authorities are determined.
