Essay

The Ph.D. dissertation presents the results of phytotoxicity, antimitotic and antimicrotubule activity screening of new 2,4- and 2,6-dinitroaniline derivatives. Preliminary selected derivatives of dinitroaniline were estimated as modifiers that synergistically enhances activity of commercial acetyl-CoA-carboxylase inhibitors, and mechanisms, underlying such synergistic enhancement, were studied. Based on these data, identified new dinitroaniline compounds and their herbicidal compositions with commercial graminicides, that appear to be most effective against grassy weeds. It is shown that all tested dinitroaniline compounds have phytotoxic effect on Allium cepa seedlings, and causes changes in the mitotic index and cytogenetic disorders. Immunofluorescent microscopy analysis confirmed antimicrotubule activity of tested compounds. Possibility of use of these new dinitroanilines as modifiers of herbicidal activity of acetyl-CoA carboxylase inhibitors was proved. It is shown that in plant cells mechanisms of synergies of herbicidal compositions is due to induction of apoptotic processes.
