The thesis deals with Ivan Franko’s interpretation of the origin, nature and functions of myths. The role and place of mythology in I.Franko’s ethno-culturological conception have been revealed. The thesis outlines fundamental mythological postulates in the formulation of I.Franko - a literary theoretician and critic. On the basis of I.Franko’s prose sources, forms, variants of mythological borrowings have been analyzed. The thesis examines artistic and aesthetic features of mythologizm in Ivan Franko’s prose.
