Essay

The thesis is the first try to systematic analysis of the genre psalm in Ukrainian literature. The author traces the phenomenon of traditional psalm in the literary and sacred dimension, determines the function and specificity of this literary genre. He explains the interconnectedness of art and sacred component in the structure of a religious hymn, and the evolution of this genre form in the nineteenth century. It was found rethinking the nature of motives and images of the Psalms in the works of numerous authors, including T.Shevchenko, I.Franko, Lesya Ukrainka, P.Tychina, B.I.Antonych, L.Kostenko, D.Pavlychko.
