The thesis first time in our sociological science made a comprehensive analysis of the causes of discrepancies and dysfunction in the interaction of labor market and education market in the old industrial region (at the example of Donbass) through the lens of institutional analysis. Based on the methodology of W. Beck and E. Toffler there analyzed the concept of "market", "work" and "profession". An empirical analysis of the problem of unbalanced labor market and education market in the old industrial region is done. Peculiarities of employment in the old industrial region are determined.
