Essay

The author of the thesis studies comparative conceptions related to the theory of discourse in Ukrainian artistic translation in the second half of the past century. Conceptual approach to the problem above lies in making comparative analysis of novels "Hard Times" by Charles Dickens, "Death of a Hero" by Richard Aldington, "Moby-Dick" by Herman Melville, "Three Men in a Boat" by Jerome K. Jerome, and "Gulliver's Travels" by Jonathan Swift translated by Yuri Lisnyak into Ukrainian. The researcher reveals genre and gender features of prose, determines measures of integrity in artistic translation being an important criterion in equivalent reproduction of belles letter.
