The dissertation is devoted to the analysis of the constitutional and legal status of the Central election committee. Legal nature of this institution is characterized at both theoretical and practical levels. The Central election committee is characterized as a state body and its place within the state mechanism is shown. In investigating the status of the Central election committee its features, composition, order of formation and the status of the Committee members are specified. Functions, authority and principles of activities of the Central election committee, organization of its work and forms of activities are analyzed.
