The model of penetrating injury of the cornea that max close to real conditions of traumatic injuries was developed and also methods of quantifying the quality of the formed scar the cornea. The new method of primary surgical treatment of penetrating corneal injury was worked out too, consisted of full-thickness corneal sutures from the periphery to the center with differentiated length and the distance between them. Its use can decrease the amount area of the scar opacities in 3 times in adult and 3,8 times in children, to avoid the anterior synechiae formation and decrease in 2.4 times the degree of posttraumatic corneal astigmatism. Results have been introduced at the SI "Filatov Institute", the Chernihiv Regional Hospital, Transcarpathian Regional Hospital, Vinnitsa Regional Clinical Hospital.
