Essay

In this research author analyzes theoretical background and correlate it with a practical implementation of the institute of mediation as a method of conflict settlement. Author defines a place of mediation among other methods of the conflict resolution, studies main instruments and categories of the mediation activity, including principle of impartiality, ripeness of the conflict and effectiveness of the mediation, as well as influence of the cultural factors. In the dissertation the authorial classification based on the principle of subjectivity is proposed. Special attention is paid to the mediation and peacekeeping efforts of Ukraine.
