There was established that the intensity of pain was reliably more in patients suffering from pain lumbosacral syndrome at the background of diabetes mellitus than in patients suffering from pain lumbosacral syndrome without diabetes mellitus (p<0.05). During detailed clinical and laboratory study of pain lumbosacral syndrome characteristics it was found out that diabetes mellitus was the factor influencing directly on the evidence of pain syndrome at the background of pain lumbosacral syndrome. The hernias of smaller size provoked more intensive pain in patients with diabetes mellitus at the background of pain lumbosacral syndrome than in those without it (p < 0.05). Such indices of neuropsychological status of patients with pain lumbosacral syndrome were changed: attention (concentration and exhaustion), memory (short-term and long-time). The frequency and evidence of changes were more in patients with pain lumbosacral syndrome at the background of diabetes mellitus. Pain lumbosacral syndrome was accompanied with depression syndrome in 92 % of patients at the background of diabetes mellitus. The expediency of neuropsychological testing to diagnose pain lumbosacral syndrome was proved, especially for patients with diabetes mellitus.
