Mizina O. Adjectival zero suffix derivatives: structural-semantic and functional-stylistic aspects

The object is zero suffix adjectives in the system of Ukrainian nomination and stylistic usage; aim to find out nominative potential of adjectival zero suffix derivatives, to determine their structural-semantic properties, to outline the range of their functioning in modern Ukrainian language; methods - method of oppositions, descriptive, represented by methods of internal and external interpretation, methods of etymological analysis, elements of structural method, component analysis, elements of transformational method, elements of statistical calculations; novelty - for the first time the analysis of adjectival zero suffix derivatives in many aspects in Ukrainian language was carried out: parameters of determination of zero suffix are specified, the paradigm copulas of the materially expressed suffix are found out, methods of word-formation formed by a zero suffix formants are outlined, the degree of the efficiency of these methods in modern Ukrainian language is determined, bounds of the stylistic prevalence of analyzed adjectives are revealed, structural-semantic types of composites in the usage and among innovative formations are determined, the character of compatibility of stems of composite zero suffix adjectives is described, causes that define the place of zero suffix in the word-formation system of Ukrainian language are proved; results actual material, the main statements and conclusions of the thesis may be used for compiling of word-formation dictionaries of Ukrainian language, and also the improvement of description of corresponding derivatives in common language explaining dictionaries, in the educational process of lecture course, while carrying out the practical lessons, in preparation of special courses and seminars in morphemics, word-formation and stylistics of modern Ukrainian language on the philological department, department of journalism; branch linguistics
