Essay

In accordance with the research objectives, in this thesis legislative definition is examined as one of the non-typical normative provisions on the basis of comparative study of legal theory and practice of the European countries. While previous studies conducted by Ukrainian scholars are focused predominantly on the analysis of legislative definitions as one of the elements of legislative technique or the result of logic operation, this research provides complex comparative and interdisciplinary analysis of the issues of legislative definitions. The Author provides the historical overview of theoretical and practical approaches to the definitions in legislative texts starting from the pre-classical period of Roman law and up to the XXI c. and analyzes the contemporary conceptions of the legal nature of legislative definition in the Western legal scholarship.
