Thesis is devoted to the complex theoretical analysis of the essence, legal nature, features of municipal police and its meaning realizing law enforcement function of local government. The role of law enforcement function in the system of local government's functions is ascertained; realization of law enforcement function of local government at every stage of Ukrainian local government development is researched; forms and ways of realizing law enforcement functions of local government are determined. Experience and basis of municipal police activity's organization in foreign countries are analyzed; its competence, main forms and methods of activity are ascertained.
