The thesis suggests a new approach to the study of linguistic and cultural information of English and Ukrainian intertextual phraseologisms. A new method for intertextual phraseologisms comparison in English and Ukrainian has been devised; the main sources of their linguistic and cultural information have been reconstructed; intertextual phraseologisms have been classified relatively to their motivation, as well as on the basis of their alomotives at intralingual and interlingual levels; the dependence of grammatical codes of intertextual phraseologisms upon cultural codes has been elicited; regularities and differences in motivation of linguistic and cultural information have been determined.
