The peculiarities of self-definition of students of technical specialities in the conditions of graded education are investigated in dissertation. The study contains theoretical grounds, methodical principles and results of empiric research of this problem. Structural-functional model of self-definition of personality is grounded on the basis of analysis of the leading theoretical approaches to its understanding as an identification matrix with horizontal and vertical constituents like an instrument of research of socio-psychological features of self-definition of students in the conditions of graded educational background. The peculiarities of the system of identities of students depending on the spheres of their vital functions and their levels (statuses) are found out. Theoretically and empirically it is grounded, that learning according to the graded educational background assists the effective forming of self-definition characteristics of student young people. The types of students are distinguished depending on parameters of their identification matrix and their psychological features are defined. Connection between different types of self-definition of students and their personal characteristics is determined. The dynamics of self-definition of students during their studying at the institutes of higher learning is also investigated in the dissertation.
