Marchenko S. SPECIFICS OF HISTORICAL MATERIAL DISPLAYING BY THE TOOLS OF POPULAR SCIENCE FILM.

The dissertation is devoted to the particularities of historical and cognitive cinema. Research оbject: film serial «Unknown Ukraine: Essays of Our History» (104 films; NKU–Kyivnaukfilm, 1993). Subject: specifics of historical material displayed by means of popular science film. In the framework of historical and cognitive construction, the author studies the sources of visual images in the art works of the «pre-cinema» еpoch, with special focus on the particularities of screen centrism and historical myth creation in feature cinema and documentary cinema. He systemically analyses the genesis of the historic and cognitive trend in popular science film. Research has been conducted in five directions: 1) thematic, content, chronotopos, structure; namely, the author investigates the connection of film length to the time and space parameters of the filmed historical periods; 2) particularities of the esthetics and features of the films from which the serial is composed that represent: а) historical events, b) historical problems, c) films-biographies; 3) visual line construction, that consists of the frames of two types: commemorative frames and reconstruction frames; 4) sound track construction, in particular, how the sound track functions in using music and sounds for the film dramaturgy; 5) four particularities of typology and genres: films-lectures, films-essay, films drama-etude and films theatre-etude.
