The thesis is dedicated to the image of a child in horror movie genre. Being a central character, a child represents the embodiment of Evil while being a victim represents a merciless nature of Evil impending over the main adult characters. Such position transforms the image of a child into catalyst of the action of adult characters as they are directed to the child defense. Such kind of the main characters spectrum renewal was mainly the result of some social and cultural phenomena and processes of the 1960ies depicted in philosophical, ethical and artistic spheres. On a basis of the wide source base the profound research and the analysis of the most popular horror movies and modern mass culture in a context of genre development figurative and thematic patterns the analysis of the form of artistic embodiment and typology of the horror movies child image as the representation of Evil was undertaken.
