Novikova L. Novikova L.Y. Ukrainian cinematography and the processes of national identification at the edge of XIX and XX centuries

The dissertation is devoted to the participation of Ukrainian cinema in general cultural process of national identity at the end of XX – beginning of XXI century. Revealed differences in the difference in the approaches of the Soviet, Ukrainian and foreign cinema to the issue of national identification. Based on the content analysis of more than a thousand documentaries, animation and feature films shown as emerges image of Ukraine and Ukrainians on the world screen. Exposed as screen products presentation mechanisms in the international space affects the creation of the national image. Materials of the research can be used to develop strategies for shaping Ukraine's image in the world community and create textbooks on the history of Ukrainian and world cinema.
