Protsenko O. Institute of participation in modern Ukraine.

In dissertation the complex analysis of problem of functioning of institutes of participatory democracy in modern Ukraine as a leading factor of improving the quality of democracy is carried out. On the basis of analysis of categories of political participation and public participation the term "participation" is determined. The state, functioning and ways of development of institute of participation in Ukraine are analysed. Subsequent development of research of role of participation of citizens in political processes in the conditions of transitive society is acquired. The essence of term "quality of democracy" is discovered and the role of participation as its important factor is determined. In the research the necessity of wider introduction of mechanisms of expansion of participation of citizens in making political decisions is grounded and the local model of participation as embodiment of the regional measurement of the given process is elaborated.
