The research presented in the thesis deals with improving technique for drilling large-diameter vertical boreholes. The analysis of information sources on the dissertation subject is carried out. Statistical material concerning quality of drilled large-diameter boreholes in Petropavlivka, Krasnoarmiys'k, Donets'k-Makiivka, Dolzhano-Rovenets'k industrial areas is collected and processed. It is proved that the quality of drilling depends on the dip angle of rock layers and the level of geomechanical indicator for field development conditions. The index of contingency for quantitative assessment of costs related to elimination of the deviation from the norm is proposed. Numerical modeling of the stress-strain mode around the borehole at the intersection of the contact between rock layers with different hardness is carried out. The relationships of borehole vertical axis curvature from the dip angle of rock layers are established. The method of borehole condition control by using weight deflector is proposed. The patent of Ukraine is obtained. The proposed method is implemented on drilling boreholes in various regions of the Donbass with positive economic effect.
