Essay

The dissertation describes social and communication functions of culture textbooks such as: information-educational function, world-view function, integrative function, function of fixing and verifying knowledge, function of managing reading and memorizing, motivational function, heuristic function, literary-personal function, visual function and aesthetic function. The way of modeling of culture textbooks using mutually complementary theoretical and historical blocks is provided. The typical stylistic, logical, factual, orthographical and punctuation errors found in those books are classified. The general model of culture textbooks as communication unity of educational text, graphics and apparatus of book is invented. The author of online cultural educational editions (additions) together with editor and software engineer should provide the following: multilevel description of material; dividing text on small semantic fragments with using interactive infographics; ergonomics of edition; adequate style of providing information; reasonability and sufficiency of references; availability of multimedia additions; providing blocks of interactive tests and practice materials. Results of investigations represent theoretical base for managing authors' and editors' work and can be used in editing and publishing processes and teaching editors.
