The dissertation deals with the issue of teaching writing to the future philologists based on the use of language portfolio. The methodology of teaching writing to the philological students based on the use of language portfolio is theoretically grounded and practically developed. The psychological prerequisites of teaching writing to the philological students are explored; the methodological and didactic fundamentals of forming and using the language portfolio for teaching writing to the future philologists are defined. Language Portfolio for Teaching Writing to the philological students, which has typical for the European Language Portfolio structure, is developed; the model of teaching writing to the philological students based on the techniques designed for language portfolio implementation in writing instruction and the system of exercises for teaching English writing is presented.
