The total of 117 patients with coronary artery disease have bee enrolled: 75 patients with 1 month old myocardial infarction (MI), 42 patients with stable angina pectoris of II-IV functional class without history of MI. Control group included 20 persons without cardio-vascular pathology. It has been shown that serum levels of transforming growth factor ? (TGF-?) and hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) are associated with size and systolic function of left ventricle in 1 and 6 months after MI. Positive correlation of TGF-? level and negative correlation of HGF concentration with severity of coronary atherosclerosis have been revealed as well. Analysis of the associations of TGF-? and HGF serum levels with severity of cardiac remodeling, clinical course and outcomes in the period up to 12 months after MI has shown that low levels of TGF-? and HGF in 1 month after MI are of a predictive value for progression of chronic heart failure within 12 month period.
