The present thesis focuses on the sources, content and poetics, that expresses dialogue of cultures as a factor of idea-artistic originality of Orhan Pamuk's novels under study. The system of factors that promoted dialogue of cultures into the novelist's prose consists of the cultural-historical, biographical and innerliterary elements. The poetics that fulfills dialogue of cultures in the author's prose comprises dialogism on the various structural levels of the creative work. The first type is macro-dialogue which represents the dialogue of ideas personified by the protagonists. The two models of macro-dialogue - antithetic and synthetic- are discovered in Orhan Pamuk's novels under study. The second type expressing dialogue of cultures in the author's prose in intertextuality. The novelist's intertextual poetics embraces historical, mythological, Koran and literary allusions, citations (including paraliterary and fictitious ones) that create ironic effect and appeal to the cultural and literary heritage of East and West. The third type of dialogism in Orhan Pamuk's creative works is a personified interdialogue between the author and the other artists whose views are represented in the text mainly as quotations. This narrative strategy is used to create the image of Istanbul in the dialogue of cultures since the author compares his perception of the city with the views of Turkish and European artists.
