In the thesis a comprehensive study of organizational and legal foundations of corrective labor law of Ukraine in the second half of the twentieth century is conducted. Political and legal factors that determined the strategy, key objectives and policies of the Soviet state, and the USSR in particular in the field of criminal sentences execution, forms and methods of its implementation by means of corrective labor law are analyzed. The peculiarities of the development in a de-Stalinization and the Khrushchev "thaw" period, neostalinizm Brezhnev period, Gorbachev's perestroika period and the period of initial creation of the law of independent Ukraine are established.
