In the dissertation theoretical and methodological foundations of sociological research of liberal education are developed. The topic is investigated in the context of democratization of Ukrainian society. Theoretical model of functioning of liberal education in the democratically conditions is built. The new requirements to liberal education are defined, its transformations in democratic society are described, social mechanisms of its might are revealed.
