Essay

The thesis deals with the research of O. Kobylianska great epics’ genre peculiarities. The paper considers the most essential parameters of the narrative’s genre, generalizes its genre definition, researches its poetics and innovative principles of its structure. In the process of research the influence of the subjective autobiographical and cultural factors on the peculiarities of female characters’ design, content parameters of communicative plane of plot, narratology and chronotope was studied. The thesis notes that traditional Ukrainian Literature themes (life of intellectuals and peasantry), the author presents from the innovative position. Artistic research of social problems in the works of O. Kobylyanska gives ground to the image of women’s nature, the basis of which is determined by the pursuit to the ideal man, which merits impact the environment. The thesis for the first time traces the phenomenon of genre modification of O. Kobylyanska works by parable, fairy-tale and ballad genre forms. Basing on the traditional forms of narrative genre, the writer creates a new modernist novel, characteristics of which are: subjectivization of narrative structure ethologistics, presence of reflecting narrator, appeal to experimental forms of artistic conventions.
