Object: the fiction by G. Kvitka-Osnovyanenko. The aim is to reveal the role and functions of author, narrator, reader in the structure of prose by G. Kvitka-Osnovyanenko. The research methods are the elements of hermeneutic, cultural, historical, biographical and structuralist methods. The results novelty: the thesis outlines the genesis the narration of the first prose of the Ukrainian prose by G. Kvitka-Osnovyanenko; systematically examined images of author, narrator and reader in the structure of the prose by the artist. The field of application: Ukrainian literature course of the first half of the nineteenth century in the secondary and higher education.
