Essay

This thesis is devoted to the complex analysis of structural and semantic peculiarities of Greek components in Latin insect-nomenclature, widespread in Ukrainian science. Scientific research describes modern linguistic problems, connected with determination of nomens. The author determines peculiarities of Greek vocabulary adaptation by Latin entomological nomenclature. This linguistic material is examined on the primary language levels: graphic, grammatical, lexical and semantic. This thesis represents the character and functional justification of adaptation of Greek components by the international Latin entomonyms. The dominant character of Greek vocabulary in the genus' taxons and the majority of Latin vocabulary in the species' taxons are found out. External and internal language facts explain the reason of quantitative modification of entomonyms' origin during XVIII - XX centuries.
