Essay

The work is devoted to development of decontamination substances and technologies to decrease the amount of radioactive wastes from decontamination of overalls and personal protection equipment at nuclear power plants. The author has developed a mathematical model which allows choosing the optimum ratio of the decontamination solution components by the Gauss method. Based on mathematical modeling, new substances and technologies for decontamination of overalls, personal protection equipment, surfaces of the equipment and premises have been worked out. They are protected by 8 patents of Ukraine. The trial tests carried out at all nuclear power plants of Ukraine have shown that the developed decontamination substances and technologies improve the existing operational characteristics of decontamination processes: the decontamination factor has increased by 30 %, washing ability by 18 %, foaming of the decontaminants has decreased by a factor 3,86.
