On the basis of theoretical and experimental researches, analytical dependences of the dimensionless quantities are obtained for each phase value determination of slippage of water hammer and flow of water, flowing into the surge tank, taking into account the regulatory closure. A model is created and firstly a method is developed for analytical calculation of water hammer in systems with short penstock with a dispersed inflow jet into the surge tank. The obtained dependence is for the determination of the optimum coefficient of resistance of reservoir and conduit joint from the condition that the maximum hydrodynamic pressure at the inlet of the tank and the hydrostatic pressure at the maximum level in the tank.
