Essay

The dissertation presents the complex and system research of legal bases of elitist democracy theory. The author studied the genesis of elitist ideas in the history of Ukrainian and foreign political and legal thoughts; moreover the author examined the G. Mosca's and V. Pareto's elite theory as the prerequisites of elitist democracy theory, the basic principles of Robert Michels' and some of his followers elitist democracy theory and the "iron oligarchy law", and features of modern neoelitism doctrines. Within the framework of research the definitions of elite, political elite and elite classification were improved.
