As a result of research 3 periods in formation of the content of Higher education in geographic in Slobozhanshchyna in the 19th century- first half of 20th century were allocated. Experience in the practice of high school at the end of 19th century- first half of 20th century, methods of teaching geographical subjects in the context of geographical education were described and summarized; the contribution of university teachers О.А. Ivanivskii, A.M. Krasnov, I.F. Levakovskii, S.L. Rudnitsky in the development of theory and methods of teaching geography in high school was detected.
