In dissertation in theory generalized and solved the problem of formation of life competence in high school students within the course of studying the history of Ukraine. The thesis refines conceptual-categorical apparatus of the studied problem; in particular it clarifies the concept of life competence of personality. It specifies the components that constitute life competence of personality. For the first time, life competence formation in high school students within the course of studying the history of Ukraine has been investigated as a particular pedagogical problem. The structure of life competence in high school students and their age peculiarities in the context of life competence of personality formation as well as the potential of the Ukraine history courses for high school have been identified and theoretically substantiated for further formation of life competence in high school students. Both criteria, indicators as well as the levels of life competence formation in high school students within the course of studying the history of Ukraine have been defined and justified. The methodology of life competence formation in high school students within the course of studying the history of Ukraine has been developed, theoretically substantiated and experimentally tested. The study developed further provision about the forms, methods and means of teaching high school students the history of Ukraine on the basis of the competence-based approach.
