Essay

The object of study is the relief of the tourist and sports facilities territory for winter sports. The goals are to develop quantitative criteria of slopes difficulty based on morphometric characteristics of relief; automation determination metric characteristics of ski cross-country trails. Used methods are mathematical statistics and correlation-spectral analysis, digital simulation of relief. Theoretical results are the next: deepening the study of the earth's surface topography parameters with mathematically based methods, expanding the range of topographical features of the terrain application. Practical results are: creating software for automated design of courses in accordance with applicable requirements for their relief, the software could be incorporated in the discipline related to the study of geographic information systems, mathematical modeling in geodesy, digital mapping. The novelties are - introducing of a general criterion, which describes the complexity of the terrain ski cross-country trails, proposing numeric criteria for assessing the complexity of the route on the basis of spectral analysis of longitudinal profile, introducing the concept of relief roughness coefficients and the method of their calculation; development of task about automation determining the main profile parameters of the ski trails; creating the algorithm of solutions to the given problem using a digital terrain model, improving recommendations for the use of numeric criteria for relief.
