Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the research of the piano creative work of Myroslav Skoryk in the context of artistic and didactic concept which was scrutinized in theoretical, philosophic, esthetical and historical aspects. On the basis of given socio-historical observations and their generalization as well as philosophic and esthetic description, the author introduces a definition of the new notion of “music artistic and didactic concept” in the art studies, realized in the artifact of the composer’s artistic and didactic message, aimed at creating ethical and corrective influence on the recipient. This notion is considered in the perspective of its influence on the modern Ukrainian music culture and - within its frameworks - on piano oeuvre of Myroslav Skoryk - one of the prominent national composers. The characteristics of person-cultural preconditions of artistic and didactic concept of piano oeuvre as well as detailed description of piano creative work of the artist in the field of abovementioned subject matter on the example of three major figurative and thematic areas: folklore (Cycle “In the Carpathians”, “From Children’s album”, “Kolomyika”, Variations), based on the genre models of the past ages (Partita №5, Toccata, three piano concerts) and jazz (“Blues”, Three flamboyant dances”, paraphrases), have been given.
