Object is dramas of Euripides, Racine, Goethe, I. Langner, opera librettos of C. Gluck, drama scene of Lesya Ukrainka and tetralogy of G.Gauptman. The purpose is definition of interpretation specificity of Iphigenia's myth in the context of European literary tradition as well as revealing of the main determinants of its transformation. Methods are comparative henology and typology, mythopoetic, elements of historical-functional, biographic and esthetic-functional methods. For the first time the basic stages of interpretation and the transformation forms are determined, beginning from sources of mentioned myth in archaic consciousness through the culmination development which is shown in the most outstanding literary works of the period of classicism and Enlightenment, to semantic reaccentuation it by literature of modernism. Historically settled and semantically active structural-notional components of Iphigenia's plot are outlined and the actual correlation of tradition and innovation in literary interpretations of the myth is revealed. In the course of the analysis the basic tendencies and regularities of myth functioning in the literature are discovered and determinants of literary interpretation of Iphigenia's myth are defined.
