Zubchenko V. Ukrainian Linguistics in 1918-1934.

The dissertation focuses on the development of Ukrainian linguistics in the Ukrainian Soviet Social Republic, in the Ukrainian lands in Galicia, in Poland, in the Ukrainian lands in Transcarpathia, in Czecoslovakia in 1918-1934. The discussion includes but is not limited to the language politics, activity of linguistic institutes and analysis of linguistic publications of this period. Historiography of linguistic researches of Ukrainian linguistics of 1918-1934 is first investigated in dissertation. The relationships among the numerous linguistic institutions and the influence of the cultural and political ideologies upon the concepts and opinions and individual linguists and upon the formation of the major linguistic trends are discussed.
