The thesis is devoted to complex scientific research of economic and legal protection of trademarks and industrial designs in Ukraine. The author developed the economic and legal provisions which facilitate the formation of a single institute of legal protection of trademarks and industrial designs in Ukraine. Based on the study of the genesis of these objects of intellectual property rights, recommendations on strengthening the legal framework in this area are provided, terminology conflicts corrected, the ways to overcome theoretical differences in explaining the phenomenon of legal protection of intellectual property suggested
