Complex pharmacognostic research of genus lentil was carried out for the first time. Qualitative and quantitative analysis of different groups of biological active substances, 15 macro-and micronutrients in the herb of Lens culinaris, sorts «Krasnogradska 23», «Stepova 244» and wild species Lens orientalis have been carried out. In the herb of Lens culinaris and Lens orientalis were determined 17 and 16 amino acids, 33 and 43 volatile compounds respectively, 19 fatty acids for both species. 20 phenolic compounds were isolated and their structure was determined for the first time:The main morphological and anatomical diagnostic characteristics of the Lens culinaris herb were established. Technology of obtaining of dry extract of Lens culinaris herb was developed. On the base of pharmacological research it was established that extract possed hepatoprotective, analgesic activity and regenerating effect on the pancreas. The following draft of quality-control technology were developed «The lentil herb» and «Lentil herb’s extract dry».
