Essay

The thesis is devoted to solving the actual problem of modern neonatology - to increase the efficiency of diagnosis and prevention of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) in very preterm infants. The current incidence of the disease in infants with birth weight < 1500 g and gestational age < 32 weeks in L'viv region was determined. Classic risk factors such as lower gestational age and severity of respiratory distress-syndrome, which determined requirement for mechanical ventilation (MV) from the first hours of life played important role in the development of the most severe forms of BPD in our infants. We described 4 "profiles" of primary pulmonary disease clinical course in very preterm newborns and defined the relationship of each of them with the risk of BPD formation.
