Essay

Thesis is devoted to the complex analysis of content and mechanism of implementation of the principle of non-discrimination in employment and closely linked relations. In this paper defined the concept of discrimination in employment, separated it from related legal categories, found the origins of inequality and reasons for maintaining discriminatory practices in the twentieth century, studied the main stages of establishment of international standards for the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment, made the classification of species and forms of discrimination. There was substantiated the need of a comprehensive approach to fighting against discrimination, which should include: a) the prohibition of the differences between the persons for the anti-discrimination features, not related to the professional qualities and content of work , and b) the introduction of temporary affirmative action to ensure equality of opportunity for different social groups, and 3) existence an effective system of monitoring to detect discriminatory practices, including hidden one and 4) the provision of effective legal remedies people have been discriminated against, and 5) the application of preventive measures to avoid discrimination and to overcome prejudice against individuals or groups, and 6) the establishment of a legal responsibility for discriminatory actions.
