Lyakhova O. Dynamic processes in the lexical-semantic system of the modern Ukrainian language: derivative word meanings widening.

The object are dynamic processes of the derivative word meanings widening in the lexical-semantic system of the modern Ukrainian language; the aim is determine the specifics of the derivative word meanings widening as a dynamic process in the lexical-semantic system of the modern Ukrainian language; methods that are used: linguistic analysis, observation method, structural method with technique of comparative analysis, oppositions method, modeling method, contextual and statistical analysis; novelty - it is the first time in Ukrainian linguistic when the derivative word meanings widening of the modern Ukrainian language has been analyzed: the causes of derivative word meanings widening were detected; the consequences of derivative word meanings widening were identified; the notions of the word meanings widening (generalization), hyperonimization, determinologization, slang units despecialization, semantic idiomaticity, word-formative model reimplementation were specified and the notion of the derivatives meanings dephraseologation was defined; the cases of meaning widening, mentioned in dictionaries and living speech, were described; changes in the lexicographic units interpretation were tracked; results - practical material, basic states and corollaries of the thesis can be used in lexicographical practice and in educational process in teaching modern literary Ukrainian, in particular lexicology and word-building courses, special courses on lexical semantics and word formation; basic notions used in the thesis can be useful for the analysis of language material for a variety of linguistic problems; field - linguistics.
