The research considers the problem of formation of cognitive autonomy of future music teachers by means of multimedia technologies, where the designated phenomenon is interpreted as intentional personal quality that manifests itself in the ability of the individual to self-development during cognitive-independent activity and provides orientation of this activity to the problems of professional music teacher in school. The criteria, indicators and levels of development of cognitive independence of future teachers are defined. Methods and techniques of independent work that contribute to forming the cognitive independence are worked out by means of media. The approbation of the developed technique is realized and its effectiveness is accompanied with statistical data.
