Essay

The proposition of NO-ergic system imbalance leading role as well as oxidative stress activation in the development of pathological changes in rabbit's cornea traumatic injuries, increased catabolism of stroma mucoproteins and depolymerization of stroma collagen proteins, changes of protease-inhibitory potential according to compensatory type has been substantiated. Administering subconjunctival injections of 4 % glutarginum solution positively influences the processes of cornea regeneration in case of traumatic injuries, particularly NOS activity and nitrite-anion contents increase, the processes of free radicals oxidation inhibition indicated by oxidative modification of proteins contents decrease, protease-inhibitory potential of cornea and anterior chamber aqueous humour normalization, prevention of cornea stroma collagen and non-collagen proteins depolymerization. Pathomorphological finding has given the basis to prove the fact that glutarginum administration results in anterior epithelium stratification, prevention of swelling development and stroma connective tissue disorganization leading to more thin and delicate scar formation to preserve cornea optic properties.
