Ivanova N. Semantics and Symbolism of the Infernal in the Russian Romantic Prose of the 1820 - 1830s.

The object of the research is the phenomenon of the infernal in the prose of Russian Romantics. The aim is to determine the place, role and functions of the infernal in the poetic system of Russian Romanticism. The methods applied are historic and typological, comparative, hermeneutic, structural. The novelty is the actualization of the infernal component in the Romantic poetics, the possibility to broaden the scientific view of Romanticism as the integral artistic system the traditions of which are connected with mythofolkloric fantasy and convey its features into fiction and art of the ХІХth - ХХth centuries. The results of this research can be used in secondary and higher education practice while teaching courses of the history of Russian and World Literature, Theory of Literature, Historic Poetics, thematic theoretical special courses as well as writing textbooks, tutorials and teaching aids, preparing course and diploma projects, can be also used in the further researches of Russian Romanticism (branch of philology).
