Ma Y. Connotative marked word combinations in Ukrainian newspaper texts of the beginning of XXI century: Semantics and pragmatics.

The thesis is devoted to the word combinations which nominative function is complicated by additional emotional and evaluative and expressive values (connotation). Those word combinations are widely used in modern newspaper text as one of its expressivity methods that attribute to newspaper an influence function on the reader. As a result of careful analysis, it was found that connotative marked word combinations compose a special category of similar speech units, as by their semantic features they occupy an intermediate position between the free and sustainable, phraseological combinations. The work also determined the mechanisms and sources of connotative marked word content formation, and described the role of valency characteristics of word, decisional texts and other factors in creation of this nominative speech units kind.
